Here is an article titled “Why Smart Digital Signage Operators Choose Commercial Displays Over Consumer TVs.” We couldn’t agree with it more.
The article covers four areas:
- application & design
- connectivity & control
Our view from 30,000 feet is that using a consumer TV instead of commercial displays is like trying to see the screen from 30,000 feet.
We’ve all seen examples of when an inferior quality screen has been used. You can’t see it unless you are straight in front of it and, heaven forbid, if it’s in sunlight because the screen will be totally washed out. Also, not only do consumer TVs have shorter warranties, the warranty is void if it’s being used in a commercial setting.
Rest assured, a consumer TV will break and that’s just throwing money out the window. Not to mention the lack of control almost inevitably results in the messaging not being updated. Out-of-date or stale messaging is a great way to encourage your audience to ignore it – another way of throwing away money.
